The Submarine Pipelines from Butterworth to Pulau Pinang, specifically Package 3, comprising Twin DN 1200mm Submarine Pipelines, represents a pivotal infrastructure endeavor undertaken by the collaborative efforts of Wira Syukur Wibawa Joint Venture. Located in the pristine coastal region of Pulau Pinang, Malaysia, this project encompasses a spectrum of critical activities that serve to enhance the maritime connectivity and facilitate the efficient movement of resources.

Scope of Work

The core of this project revolves around the meticulous execution of Submarine Pipeline Trench Backfilling Works, a multifaceted endeavor that ensures the stability, reliability, and longevity of the submarine pipelines. The scope of work encompasses three primary elements:

1. Sand Fill Works: A substantial volume of approximately 160,000 cubic meters of specialized sand fill material is being meticulously placed to provide the foundational support required for the submarine pipelines. This ensures their secure positioning beneath the seabed.

2. Rock Fill Works: With a precision approach, around 21,000 cubic meters of rock fill material is being strategically positioned to further fortify the pipelines’ foundation, reinforcing their resilience to environmental forces and seabed dynamics.

3. Dredging Works: To accommodate the pipeline installation, an extensive 450,000 cubic meters of dredging works have been executed. This process not only carves a pathway for the pipelines but also contributes to maintaining the optimal water depths for maritime navigation.

Construction Period

Commencing on 07 May 2020 and continuing to the present, this project is an ongoing testament to the dedication and expertise of the project team.
