The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) plays a pivotal role in enhancing coastal protection along the Kuala Terengganu airport road to Kuala Terengganu city centre in Terengganu, Malaysia. This vital project focuses on safeguarding the coastal region from erosion and enhancing its resilience.

Project Details:

• Location: The project is located in Terengganu, Malaysia, underscoring its importance in fortifying the coastline and ensuring the safety of infrastructure in the region.

• Scope: The core objective of this project is to implement coastal protection measures, including beach nourishment and rock revetment, to mitigate erosion and safeguard the area against the impact of coastal forces.

Quantitative Highlights:

• Beach Nourishment: An impressive volume of 250,000 cubic meters of sand and sediment is being strategically placed to nourish the beach. This replenishment enhances the coastal area’s natural defenses and protects it from erosion.

• Rock Revetment: A robust rock revetment, spanning a length of 760 meters, is being constructed to provide structural stability and prevent further coastal degradation.

Construction Period: The project’s construction activities began in September 2019 and are scheduled for completion in May 2020, marking a concerted effort to swiftly implement essential coastal protection measures.
